For more than 47 years, Bruce Bennett has recorded the history of hockey in still imagery. During that time, Bruce has covered over 5,800 games including over 5,000 in the NHL along with covering six Olympics.
In 2004 Getty Images acquired his company along with their two million hockey images. He currently directs the company’s global coverage of ice hockey, works as the liaison between Getty Images and the sport’s governing bodies, and personally shoots between 125 and 150 events each year. He also acts as the bridge between Getty Images content and sales departments to ensure that our clients are provided with unparalleled hockey content.
Bruce has been described as the ‘architect’ of the company’s hockey coverage with his in-arena placement of photographers and remote cameras to maximize coverage. However, he has described himself more akin to the conductor of an orchestra, “I am tasked with directing and overseeing our group of talented artists while affording them the latitude to be the finest at their craft”.
In more recent years, Bruce has increased his coverage of general news photography and video production, and has provided his expertise to assist in the company’s growth of still and video images from drones.
