reimagine
representation
Let's get loud together and reimagine representation
for the autistic community.
Autistic folks are diverse in every way. We exist at the intersection of every race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, and more. Being a part of this project and helping to diversify Autistic representation, is something that brings me joy.

Not with our voices, but with our content to create authentic visual representation and true connection.
Getty Images has partnered with global media agency Mindshare and Hiki, the world’s first connections app for autistic people. We endeavor to change perceptions about autism. #AutisticOutLoud features photos and videos featuring authentic portrayals of autistic people created by autistic artists. Our collective aim is to shift the narrative of what it means to be autistic, spotlighting authentic imagery to better represent the autistic community.
Launched with Getty Images Custom Content, the imagery is now part of the Getty Images' Disability Collection and will be available for commercial use to drive awareness in the industry.
Sometimes, in order to be seen, we must get loud.
Authentic visual content by Autistic creators, representing the real, lived experiences of those who’ve gone unseen and are often misunderstood
The imagery we use in storytelling shapes each others' understanding of the world. We must never underestimate how powerful of a force that is, especially when it comes to underrepresented and marginalized groups. Nothing about us without us!

I wanted to be a part of this project because I realize there needs to be more realistic autism representation in the media, and while this project won't completely solve this issue, it is a good stepping stone for it.
